Red Rabbit Racing

Running on just 3 weeks rest, we entered Novgorod The Great in a Starter Allowance race where he ran a

Hard Charging Third!

Friday, August 12 our boy competed in a 5 furlong sprint on Gulfstream's Tapeta surface where Novgorod had won his last 2 outings.  We thought the race would come up easy - some even thought the morning line would favour our boy at 3-5!  But alas, some good horses were entered in this race and Novgorod had his hands - or hoofs - full.  He ended up going off at 4-1.

Money Rabbit and Clocker Rabbit (Jean & Steve) were railside at the track - all others were watching on TV across the American Midwest.  Trainer Gulick vanned our boy in the night before from Ocala - with no one else in the trailer as Novgorod was the only racer for Jimmy on the weekend.  Picture right is Jimmy in the paddock in front of our boy waiting to get saddled.

We had drawn the 5 hole in a 7 horse field - but on race day the 2 longshots scratched as they knew they weren't going to sniff a dollar of the purse.   Cowards!

WE LOVE FIVE HORSE FIELDS!

As the race starts, Jockey Luca Panini hustles him out of the Gate, but our boy gets bounced a couple times and gets shuffled towards the rear.  Luca quickly gets him outside and moves him up and has him perfectly in the clear at the head of the stretch.  Luca turns him loose & Novgorod barrels down the stretch, but he couldn't overcome the leader - though if we had another 15 yards we would have taken over second - we were closing that quick!  In our race recap, Jimmy says he thinks Novgorod needs at least that extra half furlong in distance.   We Agree!

Princess Kathy, Laurie, Nancy, Randy, Ben, Jordan, and infant Calvin watched the race together at The Saddle Room - an OTB in Hoffman Estates, IL. Partners Founder Rabbit (Peggy) and Dancing Rabbit (Jeff) and Babe Rabbit (Aly) screamed at the TV from their Homes.

Picture left shows Calvin breaking out a Double Sawbuck from his Baptismal Gift Bank and ordering Grandma to bet it all on Novgorod's nose.  At 4 months this boy is already A PLAYER!

As most know, Novgorod is owned by Princess Kathy Racing and Red Rabbit Racing.   As such, we alternate silks for the races and it was Red Rabbits turn to adorn Jockey Luca in this race.   However, when Luca walks out to the Saddling Ring - he is wearing Princess Kathy colors - a blatant violation of our agreement!  What the Hell!?!?

Guess next 2 races will be under Red Rabbit Racing's colors to make it right!

EVEN THOUGH WE WOULD HAVE PREFERRED A WIN - WE ARE THANKFUL AS NOVGOROD EARNED US ANOTHER CHECK - HIS 6TH IN 6 RACES.

THAT IS FANTASTIC!  THIS HORSE IS NOTHING BUT HEART!
